THE LIGA LETTER - October 1997

ACTIONS TAKEN AT THE OCCASION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

While the most significant proposal to come out of the International Council Meeteing 28 May 1997 is the Statutes and Procedures Proposal about which the National Vice Presidents/Representatives are to have directed their comments to LMHI Treasurer Dr. Ton Nicolai before October 14, 1997, having discussed them with their local associations, there are other actions taken at that meeting.

  • A draft document entitled "National LMHI Elections Proposal was promulgated by LMHI Prime General Secretary Dr. Carles Amengual. This proposed set of guidelines for elections has been distributed to the members of the International Council for their comments and suggestions to be forwarded to the Office of Prime General Secretary by October 1, 1997.

  • A Reader's Survey shall be included in the next issue of the Liga Letter requesting feedback on the newsletter including the possibility of soliciting advertisements. (see page 17)

  • New member countries Ukraine and Costa Rica were unanimously accepted into the International Council

  • No clinical paper should be presented in a LMHI Congress by those not licensed to practice in their country. All papers should be submitted for advice to the respective National Vice President.

  • Due to the manifold tasks requested from each National Vice President due to the difficulty for one person to be an expert in so many different tasks due to the sometimes multiplicity of associations in one country it is advisable that, in each country, a team should be appointed with the National Vice President of as many such as: 1. political matters, 2. education, 3. pharmacology, 4. documentation, 5. basic research, 6. clinical research, 7. socio-economic research, 8. provings, 9. users/patients, 10. ethics, 11. dentistry, 12. veterinary medicine.

CALL FOR ELECTIONS

The 53rd Congress of Liga Medicorum Homœopathica Internationalis is a triennial one which means that there will be a meeting of the General Assembly. This constitutes a call for elections. Candidates for the Executive Committee should have had their curriculum vitae in the hands of Liga Prime General Secretary Dr. Carles Amengual by January 25, 1998. Candidates for the International Council should have their documents demonstrating their election by their national association(s) with their curriculum vitae to the Prime General Secretary by January 25, 1998 as well.

Finally, kindly recall the motion taken unanimously at the International Council Meeting in Capri, to wit:

The International Council of the Liga Medicorum Homœopathica Internationalis expects from the National Delegates to be supported by a large consensus among the homœopathic community in each country, across local associations.
A call for candidacy should be made previously and be followed by a written vote in an assembly or by mail that confirms the demanded support.

This motion applies to each and every LMHI member country without exception. This means that the International Council expects within every country a written vote will take place that confirms the largest possible support of a particular candidate. The International Council anticipates results of each written vote to be presented at the next International Council Meeting, April, 1998 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

As the 53rd Congress of LMHI scheduled for 25-29 April 1998 Amsterdam, the Netherlands is a Triennial, meaning that there is to be a membership meeting in association with it, all positions of the Liga Medicorum Homœopathica Internationalis will be subject to election at that time.
