REPORT OF THE 55th CONGRESSOF THE LIGA MEDICORUM HOMEOPATHICA INTERNATIONALIS, BUDAPEST, HUNGRY FROM DR. KATALIN KÜRTI
Katalin Kürti (Hungary)Chair
The 55th Congress of the Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis was held in Hungary, May 13-17, 2000. The 569 participants came from 36 countries. Three hundred twenty-two homeopaths arrived from abroad. The number of the Hungarian doctors visiting the Congress was 247. There were 17 exhibitors. At the Opening Ceremony, I read the Welcoming Letter of the President of the Hungarian Republic, who awarded Mathias Dorcsi and George Vithoulkas the Golden Medal. Mathias Dorcsi as the Honorary President of the Congress presented an Opening Lecture. Short Opening Addresses were delivered by the President of the Liga, Jacques Imberechts, the Secretary of State of Ministry of Health Erzsébet Pusztai, the Director General of the National Institute of Pharmacy Tamás Paál, the President of the Examining Board for Homeopathy of the Hungarian Ministry of Health Gábor Rácz, the “Oldest Hungarian Homeopath” István Patay. The Congress Program was colorful: there were theoretical, philosophical as well as practical lectures. You could hear about new provings and “old” remedies. Beside the lectures of clinical studies and homeopathic research, the aims of prevention and teaching were also very interesting. The Veterinary, Dental and Pharmaceutical sessions were very successful, as well. I thank everybody for all the help, suggestions, support (emotional, financial, and practical, etc.) that we were provided. We also learned from the criticism we received. Many thanks to the members of the Scientific and Organizing Committee and the Congress Secretariat for their enormous work. Now, I will present a collection of the reflections that were sent after the Congress by our colleagues: “I am very proud of the Hungarian Homeopathic Association because you and your organization have done a wonderful job. All the organizations which will organize a congress in the next years will have to strain to do it as well as you in Budapest.” Anton Rohrer, Austria “Please accept the thanks of the Scottish delegation for a most excellent LIGA Conference. We particularly appreciated the kind and friendly manner of our Hungarian colleagues. Thank you for all your hard work and organising everything, even the weather.” Steven Kayne, Glasgow “Our stay in Hungary was unforgettable and most exciting . . . we thank you for the wonderful hospitality and for all the help which we received in Hungary. . . thank you for all you have done for the Liga and for the Homeopathy in Hungary since 1992.” Mathias and Mira Dorcsi, Munich “The LMHI Congress was very well organised. I have not been able to see any flaw. Congratulations!” Ton Nicolai, The Netherlands “This mail is for sending my congratulations for the beautiful Congress that you and your friends organised in Budapest. I want to say you that I enjoyed all the aspects of the Congress, your efforts to make easier each inconvenient or difficult was evident and at the same time your kindly hospitality made me feel as in my home.” Carlos Néstor Cámpora, Argentina Dr. Kürti has asked that we reprint the following Invocation which she offered at the opening of the congress. “Dear Colleagues, I wish to every participant a successful 55th Congress of the Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis. Just this moment the main thing is that we are together at last. Let us enjoy ourselves. Let us forget the trials of the organization just like a mother forgets her pains after child-birth. Let us remember only the pleasant memories: the support, help, creative ideas we have received, and the joy of work done together. Happy Birthday to the 75-year-old Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis!” For information regarding the proceedings from this congress, please contact Dr. Katalin Kürti at Küküllö u.9, 1026 Budapest, Hungary, Telephone: 36-1-200 1631, FAX: 36 1 200 1631, Email: |
