THE LIGA LETTER - March 1999 |
EDITOR'S MAILBOX From Dr. B. Limba, President of the Latvian Homeopathic Association, 14 January 1999: I am writing to you regarding the article about homeopathy in Latvia, which was published in the October 1998 issue of The Liga Letter. We founded Latvian Homeopathic Association in 1991 and since then we educate academic physicians in homeopathy. Currently 74 certified homeopathic physicians practice in Latvia. During the monthly meetings of the association members there are given lectures, demonstration of patients takes place and we exchange experience. Two cycles of seminary lectures were given by Belgian homeopathic doctors. Currently qualification improvement course is being organized, and a textbook of homeopathy in Latvian is in preparation. The teaching staff of homeopathy are mostly doctors with a considerable experience of 15-25 years. Homeopathic physicians practice in Latvia since 1920, and a pharmacy of homeopathic medical remedies exists since then, too. I would like to add that Latvia is a multinational country and nobody is being discriminated here. Many homeopathic physicians do not have the citizenship of Latvia. However, the knowledge of the state language - Latvian - is required, since the patients have to be able to express their complaints in their own language. I would like to emphasize that development of homeopathy takes place in Latvia and it is promoted by the Liga Medicorum Homeopathic Internationalis. The project of facultative course of homeopathy in the Medical Academy will soon be accomplished. From Dott. ssa Diana De Pedroni, Locarno, Italy "Thank you for your work!"
